A Case for Vegetarianism

While I'm not a Vegetarian--I love my red meat--I believe Vegetarians have a strong Biblical case for their eating habits.

The Old Testament book of Daniel relates the story of Daniel and three of King Nebuchadnezzar's trainees who refused to defile their God by eating from the table of the earthly king.
"But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not [to eat the king's food]." "...Please test your servants for ten days; Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink." "At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food." Daniel 1:8, 1:11, 1:17

In the Genesis account of creation, God placed Adam and Eve into a giant salad! After God created the earth, he put man into a huge garden teeming with fruits and vegetables of all kinds.
"Then God said, 'Let the land produce vegetation; seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.'" "Then God said, 'I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.'" Genesis 1:11, 1:29

If one who chooses to eat only food designed specifically by God for his people, he could reason that plants and vegetation are the answer, however, God also made fish, cows, and foul. In another old testament verse siting the great exodus, God gives in to the peoples' whining to eat meat, but advising them how to cook it.
"That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. Do not eat the meat raw or cooked in water, but roast it over the fire--head, legs and inner parts." Exodus 12:8-9

I think there is a place for Vegetarianism, but I believe meat-eaters are valid as well. Some of the above verses were a response to specific events and circumstances, where others were for a period of time. Making sure we don't take verses out of context and being prayerful about what God wants for our bodies is of utmost importance. He may not want the same thing for each of us.

Whatever you choose to eat (I prefer Marshmallow Peeps myself), the key ingredient should always be moderation.

What do you think?

What's Up?

I've decided to start my blog again. It's been far too long. Since I began blogging more than five years ago, I have been writing a great deal. I've had two books published and several more in the rafters. I'm trying something new here; allowing free downloads of some of my stories.  I hope for every person who doesn't care for my work, I have at least one who does. Either way, I do it mostly for me because it's cathartic. You will find my pennings eclectic. I write what I feel at a particular time and since I have a random "thinker" it can create some very strange offerings.

With that said, please enjoy the blog, the downloads, or my published books, if you choose to order.

Things are still under construction, so bear with me as I get this blog up and running!
